Area Waterfalls

Some of Maine’s most amazing waterfalls are a short hike from camp !

Upper Rainbow Falls

Lower Rainbow Falls

Just north of camp, the Appalachian Trail follows crystal-clear Rainbow stream for several miles. There’s wonderful swimming and native trout fishing in the pools between the falls and rapids.

Pollywog falls in mid-May

The same falls in summer

Just downstream from these falls, the river plunges through the legendary Pollywog Gorge, visible from a spectacular elevated ledge along the Appalachian Trail, two miles from our camp.

Waterfall Hike

Tumbledown Dick Falls

70′  Tumbledown Dick Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in New England, and a tributary to Nahmakanta.

Another area waterfall…

…and another
